Biography

Maryland-native Tim Shuster is a percussionist and educator in the Austin, Texas music scene. He currently serves as Principal Timpanist of the Central Texas Philharmonic, and has also performed with a multitude of ensembles including the Austin Civic Orchestra, Cedar Park Winds, the Kraken Quartet, line upon line percussion, Panoramic Voices, and Tetractys New Music. A passionate music educator, he spends his days teaching percussion classes and private lessons in Leander ISD at Vandegrift High School and its feeder middle schools. During the summer months, Tim works in artistic production as Percussion Manager at the Music Academy of the West, a prestigious orchestral training institute in Santa Barbara, California. He holds degrees in percussion performance from Louisiana State University (MM) and the Ohio State University (BM).
