Life at the Music Academy

Powerful musical instruction combines with frequent social events, community outreach, and wellness offerings in our Summer School & Festival and beyond.

Throughout the summer, fellows are immersed in rich opportunities to expand repertoire and refine performance style under the personalized guidance of globally-renowned musicians.

Outside the studio, fellows get to soak in all the beauty and recreational fun that Santa Barbara has to offer while getting to know local community members.

Residential Life: Wellness & Extracurricular Resources

We define “wellness” as a way of life that balances mental, physical, and social well-being – producing healthy musicians who thrive personally and professionally. Resources include free counseling, Alexander Technique, fitness clubs, and performance medicine.

Campus & Housing

The Music Academy and Westmont College campuses are stunning locations for rehearsals, dining, performances, and leisure time.

Compeer Program

At the Music Academy performers and audiences build friendships all summer! Be matched with a family or individual to enjoy occasional free time with in Santa Barbara. Have a familiar face in the audience and fun off-campus events to look forward to. These community members “Compeers” host social gatherings, local excursions, and attend many performances.
