Norman Pearson has been a tubaist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra since 1993. In 1981, he joined the Orquestra Filarmonica de Caracas in Caracas, Venezuela and returned to Los Angeles in 1982 to pursue a career as a freelance musician. During that time Mr. Pearson was involved in many performances with the Pacific Symphony, Joffrey Ballet, Los Angeles Music Center Opera, Los Angeles Philharmonic New Music Group, and received a three-year appointment to the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra (1989-92) as a full time substitute. Mr. Pearson has also worked as a recording musician for many of the major motion picture and television studios. During this time Mr. Pearson also worked as a custom mouthpiece maker and designer for Marcinkiewicz Music Products while the company was based in the Los Angeles area.

Mr. Pearson is a graduate of the University of Southern California where he was a student of Jim Self and the late great studio tubaist Tommy Johnson. Norman Pearson also studied with former Los Angeles Philharmonic tubaist Roger Bobo. Mr. Pearson is on the faculty at both University of Southern California Thornton School of Music and Colburn School Conservatory of Music.
