Biography

LAVINNIA RAE ('20) 23, born in Nelson, New Zealand, is completing a master’s degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in association with the London Symphony Orchestra, studying with Rebecca Gilliver. Lavinnia won the 2016 New Zealand School of Music and Wellington Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition, and performed the Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1 with the combined orchestras.

  • 2018 New Zealand Symphony Orchestra fellow, & freelance work including two national tours with the NZSO, including soundtrack recording for Sir Peter Jackson’s film Mortal Engines
  • Freelanced with the Orion Orchestra & London Firebird Orchestra in London, and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra & Orchestra Wellington in New Zealand
  • 2018 was selected for the New Zealand String Quartet’s “Troubadours Quartet" professional development program
