Edward Vanderspar

Biography

Edward Vanderspar is Principal Viola of the London Symphony Orchestra and also enjoys a busy career as a chamber musician and soloist. He has a wide concerto repertoire and has given performances and solo recitals all over the world. He is also a frequent guest principal with orchestras such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, World Orchestra for Peace, London Chamber Orchestra, and London Sinfonietta.

Edward is in great demand as a teacher, and has given masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Guildhall School of Music &Drama, Heidelberg University, Hochschule Karlsruhe, and Beijing Conservatoire. He studied in London with Nannie Jamieson and Helen Dowling, and in Switzerland with Max Rostal and Rudolf Barshai.
