Eugenia Siegel Conte

Biography

Eugenia is a PhD candidate in ethnomusicology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. After completing her MA at Wesleyan University, where she researched identity in choral music and performance in Oahu, Hawai‘i, she broadened her scholarly interests to include voice studies, affect theory, and sound studies, and how they may be applied to semi-professional and professional choral musical practice in the United States, United Kingdom, and Europe. She has observed and worked with many vocal ensembles, including Roomful of Teeth, The King's Singers Summer School, Voices 21C, and the newly-developed podcast series and social justice resource and education website The Choral Commons. Currently, she serving as the editor of SEM Student News.
