2020 Violin Fellow

Biography

WEI LU ('20) 28, born in Huangshi, Hubei, China, is a doctoral candidate at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, where she studies with Kurt Sassmanshaus. Wei won first prize in the 2019 Serge and Olga Koussevitzky Young Artist Awards, and third prize in the 2015 Schadt String Competition. Ms. Lu has performed in Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Walt Disney Hall.

Wei previously studied with Martin Beaver, Laurie Smukler, and Nicholas Mann. She received her Artist Diploma from Colburn Conservatory, her master's degree from The Juilliard School, and her bachelor's degree from the Manhattan School of Music, where she received a commencement award for outstanding violinist.
