Originally from Seattle, Ian moved to Santa Barbara for graduate school by way of a short, year-long stay in Los Angeles. Ian is currently in between his 4th and 5th years of a PhD program in sociology studying culture, stigma, masculinities, and belief systems through looking at perceptions of astrology. Before his life as an academic, Ian was deeply involved in the Seattle music scene for about a decade. Music continues to be a passion of his, although podcasts and film are also things he spends time (probably too much time) engaging with and thinking about.
